Wake up, time to greet the Sun

The sun is up, and it's time to go rollin'...

April, two thousand thirteen, twenty eight, Gili Lontar, Sekotong, Lombok Barat.
Waking up on a deserted island can be quite a thrill for some, and a scare for other. I prefer the prior, and the sense of adventure is growing within me. I am not a big enthusiast on outdoor survival, but we do have some times where we just have to gather all the available resources, and keep on going.

The pointy ball of spikes on the picture is Spinnifex grass, or some call it "rumput lari-lari", a tropical version of western movie Tumbleweed. It goes running when blown by the wind. Quite interesting to play with on the sand, with just a handful of people around.

The island itself is captivating, the white sands, clear blue water, crashing waves going on and on, the coral reef, and the fresh almost unpolluted air, and the cawing of seabirds. We spent a night there camping, making bonfire and all, grilling fishes, octopus, potatoes and shellfishes. IT's nice to get so close to the nature, that the beauty and silence almost choking you, in a good way. Because you have been exposed to way too many pollution and urban life. A getaway, you may call it. I prefer hugging the ripple,  caressing the sea urchins, schooling with the little green fishes and floating over the giant table coral.

I will post some more with more pictures and the whole story, meanwhile just enjoy the sun, wherever you are, because it is a privilege you can enjoy, only as much.

Relax, Take it Easy

Two Thousand Twelve, December, Thirteenth, Wifi Hotspot.

I just booked a flight with a little help from her. I got a little hesitated, maybe because I haven't had any dinner yet. Crankiness does come with lack of nutrition (or Oxygen) to the brain. It's settled now. I'm departing at the end of the month. Though I don't know how I will spend those days, but all is well.

I think lack of blogging for the last few weeks makes me lose my train of thoughts. I have been procrastinating again. And for the last time, I have to start again, not from scratch, but still gathering my scattered thoughts. It's been a quite interesting month, from the last time I wrote something here. I won't mention it all here, maybe just some highlights would do.

First, I have made some improvements in the terms of being easy. Easygoing, easy on taking matters at hand, easy on the dark side of myself. Things got more cheerful and exciting. I went to do some volunteer in Kintamani, I do some stuffs with her, and when I'm not, I do some other stuffs and make things worth while. I also manage to get my clothes tailored, got my bike fixed, and went to a museum. I changed my old blog and filled it with doodles.

What else? I managed to say things that I thought I couldn't say to her, and that felt good, for I am extending myself to let her know what I feel, on most occasion.

Let us go back a bit then.

Two Thousand Twelve, July, Seventh, Kuta Beach.

We met earlier at one of the fast food chain restaurant in Kuta, and from there, we went to the beach. Got some dinner earlier, and went to see baby sea turtles hatching, it was the Olive Ridley Sea Turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea) and then we also went to the newest mall in Kuta Beach, just walking on the beach against the night wind, the air was chilly, and it was great.

We walk quite a bit. Enjoying the night exercise we're having without worrying about anything else. Oh, yeah I just lost my phone a couple of days back, but I also got myself a new glasses. I'm not worried about losing the phone, just that it would be a major drawback in terms of updating stuffs for the sake of work and all.

As I wondered, things seems easier back then, not a lot of mind was involved, just enjoying every moments that passes. Then again, we do have to stop a bit and think. And then go again from that point. Like a baby sea turtles fighting his/her way to reach the sea and survive for hundreds of years, things all have it courses.
I am glad, that life has take me from one point to another, whilst keeping the smile on my face, and spread it to others. as I said before to her, I like the way she smile, and then, I like the way we smile.

That's it for tonight.
I want to write more. later.

Penida and Lembongan - some tension reliever, mind, body and soul.

The Trip started on Saturday morning. The group of 5 interesting women with a sea-riden guy.

Started from Sanur, with the Maruti fast boat departing at 09.00 AM.
It cost 65k IDR /person
Our destination was Nusa Penida.
The purpose: Praying in the Temples of Dalem Ped and Giri Putri Cave
I've only known how the plan was when we were waiting for the boat, all i brought was T-shirts and snorkeling gear. I borrowed "kamen"(balinese style cloth to wrap your lower part of body) from my friend.
So that I could enter the Temples.
Here's how the other looked like, all dressed up to visit the temples.
On the yards of Dalem Ped Temple

After finishing at Dalem Ped Temple, From the Pura Segara to the Pura Penataran Agung (I will have to get back to you on that), we continued our journey to the most visited Temple in Nusa Penida.
The Giri Putri Temple, Which is located in a Cavern in the hill.

Here is the view of the ocean, just opposite frome the stairs to Giri Putri Temple.
Fisherman boats at Nusa Penida
and then we started climbing the stairs, it was already noon, and the sun is schorching hot.
With an offering for the Gods and some cameras, we went uphill to the entrance of the cavern.

steep stairs to Giri Putri Temple
Halfway to the entrance of Giri Putri Temple

Another view of the Shore

Entrance to the Giri Putri Temple
Praying at the entrance of Giri Putri Temple
After praying for blessing to advance, we entered the cavern, the opening was a small hole that we have to squat and crawl to advance. it was probably some 50 meters until the ceiling of the cave became higher and expanded into a big dome.
and then My camera became unusable :p

We got out of the cave after a series of ritual and ceremonies.
The weather was clear, the sky's blue, and here comes the fun side of our vacation.

We arrived at Lembongan Island by 4 PM and after some time walking (it was a long walk really)
we arrived at the bungalow, rest our feet and freshen up, and watch the sunset.

and the rest is total fun :)

Bali Log Date: 27 Feb 2012 - blank film rolls

Senin, 27 Februari 2012

Sebelas. Tiga puluh tujuh menit. Dan empat puluh detik. Goong…
Niki, Denpasar
Bulan ke delapan, kembali dari awal.
dan saya pun terbang

Bali Log Date: 10.27.2011 - Photos gone bad, or is it?

I just tested out a xr redscale film with my Sprocket rocket camera.
Some of you might not know what those are, so here are the link for both
The film the-lomography-redscale-xr-50-200 and the camera sprocket-rocket-panorama
(again without the sprocket holes, due to scanner incapabilities)

So, carrying on, I loaded the film to the camera, took it to the beach, which is still okay.

and then I took pictures in an alleyway, with less light, and the trouble start.
all I got is some dark images of nothingness...

Here are the link to the Photo hunting documentation by a talented friend of mine, Popo, and pictures by fellow Lomonesia Bali poppies hunting documentation

Next, I take some pictures of meadow, on a very sunny day,
which turns out really great, no complains about it.

And then, yet another picture fails...
 and another...

The last frames of this roll was the next demise, a parade of people are marching down the road,
I rushed and took the camera, taking some shots, and then realizing that it was on bulb mode (here's a link to Bulb photography) and resulting a ghostly image (luckily it's not too over-exposed)

I finally noticed that my camera are probably on bulb mode and change the setting to normal,
resulting this picture bellow.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I also took some night shots (with flash) and the pictures turns out like this.

Well, an experience, I call it a failure, but I guess you'll be the judge of that.

That is all for tonight.
Thanks for viewing...

Bali, Log Date: September, 17th-18th, 2011 - Rumbling Weekend

Honda '79
Saturday is, what Saturday supposed to be...
Slow and easy, even when I know work Saturdays. Things were going smoothly and not full of surprises,
although there are some things lost to mind. Got some confirmation on work related stuffs, finished the days work, and went home. After that, we had dinner at Kuta, meeting my friend there at the same time.

I went to go with my friend after, going to his place, had some drink and  lots of chat about his and my situation.
Also, we talk about his clothing line. He has been working on it over some years, and he said about how he was not doing it the right way. and he is trying to find ways to get more profit, while trying to be original at the same time. It's not an easy thing, but still doable, with a lot of efforts.

Sunday, another thing coming my way. Plan to the beach, a meeting at a cliff club, and another meeting with Lomonesia Bali.
I went out with my brother at noon, and after going to denpasar to pick up my friend, off we go to Padang Padang Beach at Pecatu. we reach the beach at 3PM.

Swimmed, got pricked by sea urchins, water was cold, waves is big, but had fun all the same.
Sea Urchin spines pricks

went to the Cliff Club called El Kabron (my spanish friend said it means "bencong")
El Kabron cliff club
The place was far, but the view was great, its also expensive, so only if you have more to spend ( I came to accompany my friend "The Emergency Exit Bali" for a band gig deal).
After that, off to Lomonesia meeting (stopped by for dinner before, and speed to the meeting place)
Good meeting, lots of ideas, lots of things to do, and now I'm blogging... hahaha...

Well...
Let's do this.
First thing first!

Daily Log in Bali 08.30.2011 - Date by the Beach

Log Date: 08.30.2011
Woke up, had breakfast, and watched some TV. Packed some things and went out for a drive. I got an appointment at 2.30 PM. Went out to lunch first and met my friend, for the first time. Drove to Petitenget and located the Mano Beach Side Café, not as great as we imagined, but got some drinks and chat. The sun was glaring at us; the waves are calling, but didn’t go for a swim.
The sun got lower, people are coming, and we decided to walk down the beach. Took some pictures wet our feet in the sands and tides. Walk to the south, and after a while, went back to the car. Then we go for a dinner at Warung Italia at Kunti Road. Had some salad and Pizza, and thinking about coffee. Decided to go to Gloria Jean’s (yet again), stayed there until nearly closing time, and then went back to my friend’s place.
After some time, chats, food, books, and TV, I went home. Good Day…

Daily Log in Bali 08.21.2011 - Beach time...

Log Date: 08.21.2011

Got out of the house at 10.40AM, went to Denpasar to meet up with a friend, and off we go to Nusa Dua. Went to the (Geger) beach (I think), found a perfect isolated spot to sit around and chat. Didn’t took me long to get off of my clothes and dive in to the water, it was a nice swim, a little too shallow but the water was nice. Swim for a while, got back to my friend on the shore, she was not swimming because she didn’t bring any change of clothes, it’s too bad.

Walks around the beach, found a dead porcupine fish on the shore, walks some more and sits at someplace with tree canopy.

And then it’s time to go. promised to meet my Lomo friends at McD Jimbaran, we are going to yet another beach. Blue point beach a.k.a. Suluban Beach, Uluwatu. The view was superb, too much to handle. A cliff, with stairs down to the beach, shops and restaurants along the way, and many nooks and crannies, before we finally got to the white sandy beach.
We stayed until the afternoon there, taking pictures and many pictures. Walks around the beach, and I decided to take a dip again. The water was colder down here. Still it’s nice to swimJ

Pictures of us, taken with a LOMO HORIZON Camera, Black and White Film,
All pictures by Stevanus Bayu

After sunset, we went back to Jimbaran, and ate dinner at Tuban. Talks about next project for Lomonesia Bali, and promised myself to update it soon so that things are going well. These people really need more encouragement and movementsJ.

Finished with dinner, delivered my friend back to Denpasar, and went for a cup, make that two cups of coffee. Went home, ate sushi and sashimi, talks about my day with my aunt, she tells me about her day. Change my bed sheet, and ready for bed. Let’s hope for a good day tomorrow. Another happy Sunday indeed…
